Roxana Villa: Pioneer of Botanical Perfumery

A career spanning illustration, aromatherapy, and botanical fragrance, shaping a generation of perfumers and sensory explorers.

With decades of experience across illustration, aromatherapy, and natural perfumery, Roxana Villa has shaped the modern botanical fragrance movement. She began her journey in the 1980s as an award-winning editorial illustrator in NYC, later expanding into aromatics, teaching aromatherapy at the Massage School of Santa Monica and presenting at NAHA conferences.

In 2007, Roxana launched Illuminated Perfume at the Ojai Lavender Festival, beginning her signature series of immersive, narrative botanical perfumes. Her workshops and mentorships have guided hundreds of students worldwide, cultivating a lineage of natural perfumers and botanical explorers.

Her signature fragrance, Figure 1: Noir, embodies curiosity, eccentricity, and deep botanical richness, a complex scent narrative for collectors seeking adventure, featuring patchouli, green vetiver, Mysore sandalwood, orris, valerian, with herbaceous undertones.
