The term comes from Italy, referring to the tonal contrasts suggesting volume and modeling of the subjects depicted. The literal translation of the word is light-dark. The opening features a candied spicy sweetness with notes of jasmine, vanilla and chocolate contrasting the rich dark, base. There is a floral powder note in the dry down that evokes the audacious four foot wigs in Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette.
